To thrive in a future filled with tremendous change, our kids need to learn how to imagine, design and make things. They need to learn how to apply concepts to create real world projects. This requires dedicated spaces, curriculum and mentors. For parents and schools, providing this kind of a platform within the current structures is next to impossible.
The Makerspace is an open-ended learning space where kids build, invent and experiment through hands-on, creative activities. The goal of the makerspace is to provide kids with hands-on experience coupled with mentoring and guidance in learning skills, concepts, and domains that are crucial for their future success.
Kids need more hands on guidance than adults when they set out to make their ideas real through projects.
At the Leo & Mike Makerspaces we use the following process to help get kids along their journey into making things.
