OUR APPROACH TO LEARNING

Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is a process of learning where children learn by doing, and by thinking about what they have done. Children go through the experiential learning cycle in all camps, which involves: a concrete hands-on experience of building or creating, reflection on how they felt during their experience, which helps them generate new ideas or modify existing ideas about their experience, and the application of these ideas through active experimentation.

Design Thinking

Design thinking forms the underlying framework of all Leo&Mike camps. It is a problem-solving framework that helps the learner generate ideas and develop these ideas into working prototypes. Children go through the design cycle in every camp.

Project Based Learning

Experiential learning can be effectively delivered through Project Based Learning. In a project-based classroom, children attempt to successfully execute projects which involve designing and building working solutions to real-world problems. Project-based learning is interdisciplinary (requiring children to apply knowledge and skills across subjects) and rigorous (requiring children to go beyond recall, and actively use problem-solving, critical thinking and inquiry).

STE(A)M Learning

STE(A)M - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, the application of Science and Mathematics concepts in order to provide Engineering and Technology solutions to the world's problems. This type of learning can be considered a response to teaching subjects like Mathematics and Science in silos. Rarely are these subjects used in isolation in the world. STE(A)M is inherently interdisciplinary and recognises that any attempt to provide a solution in the world requires a combination of subjects, technologies and engineering skills.

At Leo & Mike, we all come to work every day because we want to solve the biggest problem in education and learning of school going children. Our traditional education system is becoming obsolete and technology is changing the world around us in incomprehensibly large number of ways. While schools are doing their best to keep students at the edge, a centrally-designed curriculum-based approach can never keep pace with the real change that is taking place in the world.

No one – absolutely no one, including us – know what will work look like in a future where most computer programs will be written by computers themselves, buildings will be designed and built by machines and diseases will be diagnosed and surgeries performed by robots.

Fast-forward to today, it is one of the most sought-after roles in every company. Hold your horses, the role of the digital marketer is also getting redundant because of the advent of automation in digital marketing also.

 

The workforce will have to be on their toes – all the time. Ever ready to unlearn and relearn. We believe the best way to prepare future inventors and creators of tomorrow is by making them better learners. Our children can’t wait till they enter the workforce to figure all this out.
