This introductory camp gets children to explore the world of making using mechanics and electronics. Children combine technology, art and creativity and experience what it takes to put all their resources together in order to make useful, fun and working prototypes. This is the one-stop shop where arts, crafts, engineering, technology and design come together. Add some hands-on playful learning to make for an incredible summer experience for your child!

Day 1 : Basic Electronics

Activities
Learners understand components of simple circuits and how they work. They build a simple torch and a light-up greeting card.

Identifying simple circuits and its components
Identifying the symbols of each components
Constructing a simple circuit

Building an electronic greeting card

Day 2 : Applied Electronics

Activities
Learners gain a deeper understanding of circuits by constructing a model house and electrifying it.

Identify the components of a circuit provided to them

Day 3 : Basic Mechanics

Activities
Learners enter into the world of mechanics. They build a mechanical car, an elastic-powered car and a balloon-powered car to learn about force, push/pull and simple machines.

Identify push and pull force
Identify wheel and axle as simple machine
Construct a simple mechanical car
Construct an elastic powered car
Construct a balloon powered car

Day 4 : Applied Mechatronics

Activities
Learners put to use their understanding of mechanics and electronics to make a toy. They will also explore planning and budgeting in this activity.

Make a functional toy

Day 5 : Finishing touches, Peer & Parent Presentations

Activities
Learners reflect upon their camp experience and present their work to parents.
